Kai Hunter is a 21 year old Racing Driver from the North East of England, who in his 13 year long career so far in motorsport, has proved himself to be one of the most successful British Kart Racers in history.


He has been named the most successful driver to date in the British Karting Championship, as a result of winning more races in total than any other driver.

Kai has taken 2 British Championship titles in 2019 (Junior Rotax) & 2023 (Senior Rotax),
4 British Open Championships - once in Junior (2019) and 3 times consecutively in Senior (2021, 2022, 2023),
2 British Grand Prix Kartmasters Titles (back to back in 2022 & 2023)
and most recently, 2 Ultimate Karting Championship Titles (back to back 2023 & 2024).

On top of Hunter’s accolades in the UK, he has also proved to be competitive in Europe – crowned BNL Kart Champion in 2023 ;
Canada – becoming Canadian Open Champion in 2018 ;
UAE – 2024 Dubai Open Champion ;
USA – IAME Grand National Champion 2024.

A BREAKDOWN OF KAI'S CAREER SO FAR :
2012
The start of it all … Kai and his older brother Rhys took to their local circuit Warden Law, where their love for the sport was born.

2013
At age 10, Kai entered his first race season in the Honda Cadet class as a family run privateer team, with his Dad and Grandad mechanicing at local Club Championships.
2014 / 2015
Continuing to compete in Club Championships at Warden Law and Rowrah in Honda Cadet over this time, Kai secured his first tastes of winning by securing both championships!


2016
After winning multiple club championships, Hunter progressed up to his first National Championship season – NKF (Northern Karting Federation), where he gained lots of valuable experience and silverware!



2017
In 2017, the step up was made into the SuperOne Championship (the British Championship of the time), where in his first year, Kai received the national seed of the ‘5’ Plate after finishing 5th in the Mini Max Championship.




2018
Another step up for Kai into Junior Rotax, where he had huge success racing for the prestigious Ben Cooper Racing Team over in Canada, grasping the title of Canadian Open Champion winning by over 14 seconds!



2019
After his years of gaining experience, confidence and race craft, in 2019, Hunter made his bid for a British Championship. Due to his dominant performance throughout the season winning 8/12 rounds, Kai came away as Junior British Champion.
He also secured his first British Open Champion title in this same year!



2020
A swift transition to the world of Senior Karting for 2020, saw Kai rise to the challenge and secure another British Open Championship win as well as finishing 3rd in the British Championship season.



2021
Kai finished the British Championship season doing one better than the previous year, with the number ‘2’ plate, after consistently dominating at the front with his brother Rhys.
He also secured 'Vice World Champion' at the Rotax Grand Final held in Bahrain!




2022
A great year of achievements for Kai : Kartmasters British GP Champion, British Open Champion & on track, he raced an awesome race winning the Rotax World Championship in Portugal. A harsh penalty post-race stripped him of the official title, however still an incredible achievement to be proud of.





2023




The biggest year to date … British Champion, BNL Champion, Ultimate Karting Champion & Kartmasters GP Champion. Where everything finally came together and the hard work payed off, dominating the British and European karting scenes.
2024
The year of a shift in career – Kai made the decision to shift his focus after such a successful season and support his brother building up their very own team ‘Hunter Motorsport’ as well as their own Engine Building business, ‘Venator Racing Engines’.
Alongside working full time building up multiple businesses, Hunter still secured the Ultimate Karting Championship title for the second year running and also the Dubai O Plate.

As a result of his huge career successes, in 2024 Kai had the opportunity to become a works team driver for
Rolison Performance Group (RPG) – arguably the leading team in the USA.
This proved to be a huge success as he dominated and won on his debut race as well as his second race in the States!







2025 PLANS ...
Plans for the 2025 season include primarily pursuing his opportunities in America with RPG,
as well as racing in Europe with his home team Hunter Motorsport.

Kai also continues to fuel his passion with building engines and growing the family businesses.
