Kai started his karting career in 2012, where him and his older Brother Rhys would drive around Warden Law Kart Circuit.
Where it all began...
2013 at age 10, was when Kai entered his first race season in the Honda Cadet Class as a family – run privateer team, with his Dad and Grandad as mechanics, competing in local Club Championships.
This was when Kai really found his passion and love for racing, which hasn’t faultered since!
Kai got his first taste of winning, when he secured his first Club Championships at Warden Law Kart Circuit and Rowrah Karting in Honda Cadet.
After this win, Hunter entered his first National Championship - NKF Championship (Northern Karting Federation), gaining lots of experience at this level.
After progressing through into the Mini Max Class, Kai first competed in the SuperOne Series in 2017.
In his first season of Junior racing, Kai received the national seed of the ‘5’ Plate after finishing 5th in the SuperOne Championship 2018.
Outside of the UK, Hunter raced in Canada for the prestigious Ben Cooper Racing Team, where he won the Canadian Open Championship by a huge margin of over 14 seconds!
After his years of gaining experience, confidence and race craft, in 2019, Hunter made his bid for a British Championship. Due to his dominant performance throughout the season winning 8/12 rounds, Kai came away as Junior British Champion.
He also secured his first British Open Champion title in this same year!
A swift transition to the world of Senior Karting for 2020, saw Kai rise to the challenge and secure another British Open Championship win at Clay Pigeon’s annual Rotax Festival!
Additionally, Hunter finished on the podium in the British Kart Championship receiving the ‘3’ seed in his first Senior year!
2021 saw more top finishes being at the front consistently and fighting for wins at every round… Kai finished the British Championship season doing one better than the previous year, with the number ‘2’ plate.
He also secured 'Vice World Champion' at the Rotax Grand Final held in Bahrain!
With the aim to stay consistent and extend his list of achievements to date, Kai went into the 2022 with high expectations and didn’t disappoint… Kartmasters British GP Winner and British Open Champion yet again, were amongst his achievements in this year.
With a ticket to the Rotax World Finals in hand, Hunter set off to compete against the top drivers in the world at Portimao, Portugal…
At the end of a strong week after qualifying on Pole Position for the Final, Kai crossed the line in 1st position! However, due to a harsh post-race penalty he was stripped of the World Title.
Determined to come back stronger than ever, Kai returned for the 2023 season, where he dominated in both the UK and Europe.
